27 DAY ROAD TRIP

With lots of time to spare

We travelled from the Deep South in Cape Town Northwards to Windhoek stopping off for a night around Noordoewer, Keetmanshoop, Rehoboth, and Windhoek.

We went Westwards to Swakopmund then along the coastline North to Henties Bay, Torra Bay, and Terrace Bay.  Terrace Bay being the furthermost North one may travel to within the Skeleton Coast National Park.

We made our way back South past Henties and Swakopmund again.   Then past Walvis Bay through to Solitaire, Sossusvlei, Helmeringhausen, Aus, Rosh Pinah and ended up alongside the Orange River in Noordoewer before making our way home.  In total, we covered a distance of 4 762 kilometres.

The temperature inland was around  30 – 40°C with lots of cloudy days, lightning storms, and some rain.  It was perfect t-shirt weather right into the evening.  Along the coast, it was considerably cooler and very pleasant with the temperature ranging between 20 – 30°C.  Beautiful beach weather consisting of clear skies most days instead of the usual thick coastal fog.
